Bringing in the New Year
Pastor’s Note for January, 2022 Newsletter
As I write this for January’s newsletter, Christmas is not here yet, but it is coming! We remember that Christmas is always coming, if we are faithful and anticipate the presence of Jesus in our lives. As we enter January and the season of Epiphany arrives, we move out into the world taking the Christ child with us to witness and serve. In this way, we are preserving the heart of Christmas unendingly. My prayer is that this will be the spirit of our church as we go forth into 2022. May it be a fulfilling and richly meaningful year for each of us.
I believe that there are a number of things we can do as a church to enable us to start the year on the right path. Please be in prayer about how we can plan and participate in events that will deepen our commitment to be the disciples whom Christ is calling us to be. This new year offers all of us a chance to be closer to Christ, to have a new openness to the Spirit, and to be a church alive with his love and grace, ready to say, "What would you have us do now, dear Lord?" With that in mind, I would like to invite all who are interested to join me after worship on Sunday, January 9th, as we embrace God’s call on our lives to make disciples of Jesus Christ
for the transformation of the world. We will look at where and how God is calling us to serve. Please join me for this important time of seeking and following God’s will for Whitfield UMC! And did I mention that light refreshments will be served?!
And lastly, let me thank you all for the lovely and generous Christmas gifts my family and I received. We were truly blessed by your expressions of love for us and it touched our hearts deeply. May this New Year bring God’s love and light into your homes with abundance!
