Active Month of May
My Dear Friends,
I pray that your Easter hearts remain full as we continue to celebrate our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Our Holy Week services were very meaningful to those who attended, whether in-person and on-line. This month on Sunday, May 16th we will celebrate Ascension Sunday, the day when Jesus told his disciples they would “receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” When he had said this, his disciples watched as Jesus was lifted up to heaven! The following Sunday, May 23rd, we will celebrate Pentecost Sunday, when the Holy Spirit came like a mighty rushing wind upon the disciples, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking other languages, proclaiming the gospel, and doing many signs and wonders! This is the same Holy Spirit which fills us today!! Make sure you come and celebrate this powerful day with us – and wear your Pentecost Red, the color of fire and symbolizing the Holy Spirit in the Church.
Thursday, May 6th, is the National Day of Prayer. Our sanctuary will be open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm and I will be in my office during that time, available to come to pray or speak with you, if you so desire. I encourage you to stop by the church at some point during that time to sit quietly in the cool of our lovely sanctuary and spend time talking and listening to God. Hear what our Lord has to say in response to your prayers.
Remember to give thanks to God as you remember and/or honor your mothers or those people in your life who have acted as mother-figures for you, loving, nurturing, and training you up in the ways that you should go! Let them know how much they are loved, especially on Sunday, May 9th, Mother’s Day.
I hope you will continue to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit for how God can work in us, among us, and through us, as the hands and feet of Christ in the world!
